2008 Tampa Weather was “Normal”
The year 2008 was fairly normal, weatherwise. The mean temperature in Tampa was 73.7 degrees which was a mere 0.6 degrees above the long-term normal. The mercury ranged from a cold low of 29 on January 3rd to a warm high of 98 on June 6th. The 98 degree reading was only 1 degree below the all-time high of 99 recorded on June 5th 1985. Yes, Tampa has never recorded a temperature above 99 since records began back in 1890.

Like the temperature, the annual rainfall was also near normal at 43.77 inches which was only 1 inch below the normal 44.77 inches. There were 108 days recording measurable rain with 14 days recording 1 inch or more while 63 days recorded thunderstorms. The heaviest 24 hour rainfall was 3.08 inches recorded on June 21st.

The strongest sustained wind was 30mph from the NW on January 8th and the highest wind gust was 41mph from the ESE reported on July 6th.
